Summer is in full effect and mark. by Avon has released the Havana Sol collection in celebration of this! The 9-piece mark. by Avon Havana Sol collection features makeup, body care, and jewelry. I’ve been trying out 4 of the products the past couple of weeks and wanted to share my thoughts with all of you!
The other products available in the mark. by Avon Havana Sol collection are: Body Mist, Body Scrub, 2 shades of the Havana Sol lipstick (Mambo and Rumba) and the Havana Moment Ring Set.
The Havana Sol Body Wash ($10 USD/$12 CDN) and Body Butter ($12 USD/$14 CDN) smell soo good! The scent is described as a blend of freshly cut papaya, deep Cuban orchid and warm velvet woods. Perfect for the summer time (or in the dead of winter when you want to think you’re on a tropical vacation). The body wash lathers so well (as all mark. body washes do) while the body butter is nice and thick and super moisturizing.
Next up are the Hook Up compacts which are great for travel. The mark. Havana Sol Blush Bronzer ($18 USD/CDN) is a split pan cheek compact. The top half is divided into two blushes, a true, bright pink, and a coral peach. The bottom half is a medium toned satin finish bronzer. Now there is a gold shimmer spray over but it quickly goes away once you start picking up product with your brushes. You can see in the swatches below that the bronzer has some noticeable shimmer in it, as well as the coral blush. But in the swatch on the far right (all 3 shades blended together), there is pretty minimal shimmer left over.
For me the bronzer is a bit too dark for me, but with a light hand I can get a nice wash of colour along my hairline and underneath my cheekbones to sculpt my face. The blushes are very nice but because of the size of the pan, you can really only ever pick up both shades together. Definitely make sure to use a smaller blush brush when using this compact so that you can precisely pick up the blushes.
The other Hook Up Compact is the mark. Havana Sol Eye Contact ($18 USD/CDN). I was super excited when I opened this for the first time. Great, bright shades but with smartly added neutral matte shades for the crease. The two neutral shades applied really nicely and really ground the blues and turquoises. I found the shimmery white shade to be a bit powdery/chunky with application but the two other shimmers were much better. The blue shimmery shade is really pretty and can also be applied wet. For the turquoises, the satin/almost shimmery light turquoise didn’t have great pigmentation but the matte shade more than made up for it. Look at that swatch! Finally, for the two matte blue shades, the deeper shade definitely performed better than the periwinkle shade as that shade sheered out a touch too much.
Overall, I much preferred the body products over the makeup but some of the shades in the eyeshadow palette are fantastic and great to create some fun, summery looks.
Have you tried any of the mark. by Avon Havana Sol Collection yet?
til next time…
